Individual Supplies

Everyone Should Bring: -- make sure ALL your equipment has your name on it!
  • 1 five-gallon bucket with lid for all of your gear, except sleeping bag.  Put your name on it and decorate it so it is easily recognizable.  Your bucket will also serve as a seat for firesides.
  • warm sleeping bag or old blankets (it gets cold in the mountains at night)
  • heavy garbage sack or duffel bag, to put your sleeping bag in, with name on it
  • 1 warm coat
  • 1 rain poncho (we will most likely get some rain)
  • Plastic tarp to serve as a ground cloth and shelter for rain  (10x15 recommended)
  • 1 pair of shoes to hike in (new shoes WILL cause blisters)
  • 4 pair of socks- good, wool hiking socks (or 8 regular pair to double up, preferably not cotton)
  • 2 sets of underclothing (wear one and pack one)
  • 1 handkerchief or bandana
  • 1 pie plate, 1 large spoon and 1 tin cup or sturdy plastic cup with handle
  • Camelback, canteen or large water bottle & strap for drinking water (bring it full)—put name on it
  • 1 small handtowel
  • a comb or brush
  • 1 toothbrush
  • Deodorant
  • sunscreen
  • 5 band-aids
  • prescribed medications  (to be handled by Ma/Pa)
  • 1 old set of scriptures
  • 2 heavy-duty plastic garbage bags
  • Moleskin for blisters (or several feet of duct tape, you can wrapped around deodorant or sunscreen)
  • 1 pair work gloves
  • 1 pair of old tennis shoes
Men Should Bring:
  • 2 pair of wool or canvas pants (no Levi type material). (wear one, pack one)
  • 2 long sleeved shirts.  (wear one, pack one)
  • 1 western-style hat (no baseball or army hats allowed)
  • 1 pair of suspenders
  • sleepwear
Women Should Bring:
  • 2 mid-calf, long-sleeved dresses  (wear one, pack one)
  • 1 (or 2) bonnets
  • 1 pair of knee length bloomers  (can be made out of old pajama bottoms or hospital pants)
  • 1 (or 2) aprons 
  • 1 flannel nightgown or sweatpants  (make sure these are modest and warm)
  • Feminine hygiene supplies
Optional Items:
  • Glasses instead of contacts if possible
  • Sunglasses
  • Camera
  • Colorless chapstick
  • Pocket knife  (no sheath knives/ straight blades)
  • Insect repellant 
  • Harmonica or other small musical instrument
  • Flashlight and/or head lamp w/extra batteries
  • 1 extra water bottle for mixing electrolyte powder (we provide the powder).  Wide-mouthed sports bottle is best so it is easy to pour in the powder.
